Engage in Devotional Prayer

Although evangelization is essentially the main objective of the San Lorenzo Ruiz Association of America, there is still an emphasis on devotion and religious activities that all devotees could participate in.  The San Lorenzo Ruiz and Scalabrini Center is a place where Filipinos could express their unique cultural values within the context of the Catholic faith, tradition and practices.  People come and pray together as one family, one community. Through the devotions, we were able to reach out to many Filipinos in the community as well as to people of different ethnic backgrounds.

The San Lorenzo Ruiz and Scalabrini Center has become the venue for weekly devotional novenas on Tuesdays to San Lorenzo Ruiz and the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary – Lady of Manaoag. Masses are held every First Tuesday of the month for San Lorenzo Ruiz. Holy Masses on special occasion with permission of the parish are held at the Center. SLRAA also conducts prayer meetings, and religious retreats for the spiritual development of its members.

Likewise, the Center plans to hold devotional novenas to Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Baclaran) on Wednesdays and the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Lady of Antipolo)--both popular devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Philippines. The Santo Nino devotion (Infant Jesus) is held every 25th day of the month with a prayer service and Mass. The SLR Center also caters to the observance of notable religious Filipino traditions such as the “Pabasa ng Pasyon” (Passion of Christ) during Lent and the Misa de Gallo during the Christmas season, if necessary.
